Getting To & Around Colombo
Welcome to Colombo!
Colombo, the vibrant capital city of Sri Lanka, is a captivating destination that seamlessly blends rich cultural heritage with modern urban charm. As the gateway to this beautiful island nation, Colombo offers a unique experience filled with history, art, and stunning coastal landscapes.
With its diverse cultural heritage, Colombo is home to numerous historical landmarks, bustling markets, and serene temples. The iconic Galle Face Green, a popular seaside promenade, is perfect for leisurely strolls and enjoying the sunset. The National Museum of Colombo showcases the country’s history and heritage, while the stunning Gangaramaya Temple reflects the city’s spiritual traditions. Nature lovers can explore the lush Viharamahadevi Park or take a short trip to the nearby beaches for sun and surf.
Traveling by Plane
Colombo is easily accessible through Bandaranaike International Airport, which offers direct flights from major cities worldwide. Upon arrival, taxis, buses, and rental cars are readily available for convenient transportation within the city.
Visa
Depending on your nationality, you may require a visa for entry into Sri Lanka. It is essential to check the visa requirements specific to your nationality. Please follow these steps to obtain a visa:
- Register for the conference.
- Get a visa invitation letter: An official personalized letter of invitation (PDF) will be provided to registered participants who do not have Sri Lankan citizenship. This invitation is prepared solely for the purpose of visa applications.
- We recommend for most visitors to get a visa on arrival and to carry a visa invitation letter provided by the conference secretariat. Please check the immigration requirements specific to your nationality to determine if you should apply in advance.
Venue

Accommodation
We recommend that presenters participating in person consider staying at the Shangri-La Hotel for convenience. General participants are welcome to reserve accommodation at the conference venue (subject to availability) or make their own arrangements for accommodation and transportation. Please note that the conference secretariat does not cover expenses for general participants.
