About the training
The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), in collaboration with the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) with support from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), is pleased to announce an in-person Introductory Training Course on Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) Modeling from June 23-27, at the ICAR-NAARM Campus, Hyderabad.
Effective policymaking requires robust analytical tools to anticipate the impact of shocks, structural changes, and reforms on the economy. CGE models are powerful analytical tools designed to assess the direct and indirect impacts of policies and shocks across the entire economy, including macroeconomic, sectoral, and household-level outcomes. This week-long training will introduce participants to the theoretical foundations and practical applications of CGE modeling, with a focus on IFPRI’s Standard CGE model.
Participants will gain experience in building, calibrating, and interpreting results from CGE models that can inform a wide range of development policy questions. The program also includes a post-training research assignment, allowing participants to apply their newly acquired skills to a policy topic of their own interest, with mentorship from IFPRI researchers.
Since 2001, IFPRI has successfully organized over 30 training courses in collaboration with national partners, building capacity for over 500 researchers across 30 countries. The 2025 Hyderabad edition seeks to take this goal forward by equipping India’s next generation of policy researchers with analytical tools to support evidence-based decision-making.
We are now inviting nominations for this in-person training. Interested candidates are encouraged to register by completing the nomination form available here!
